Note: In this experimental systems HF specific dermal component was replaced by non-specific, by DF - dermal fibroblasts. It systems tests possible inductive effects of dermal fibroblasts.
1. Concerning this system, only 2 works are known from the literature. ORS cells were transplanted together with DF into micro-incision of ear skin. In no case follicular neogenesis was noticed.

2. Human scalp HF derived ORS cells were propagated on feeder layer of post-mitotic human DF in collagen gel [dermal equivalent]. They organized into stratified epithelia largely reminiscent of epidermis with regard to both tissue architecture and localization of epidermal differentiation. ORS cells embedded in Matrigel together with HDF developed large spheroidal structures with inward-directed differentiation and all the epidermal markers found in 'surface' cultures, while only small keratinizing spheroids formed without HDF.
