Dr. Gho is dermatologist. In 1998 he registered his thechnique of, as it is stated, hair multiplication. On April 15, 1998, Dr Gho went public and gave interview in the Dutch newspaper 'De Gelderlander' . This provoke strong reaction and interst of specialists as well of these, who is actually waiting for his own hairs to be multiplied.

At present, he continue to to work on his technique (experimental stage) in Maastricht Medical Center .

According to his technique:

1. Hairs are plucked from the back area. Then their bulb characteristicts are analyzed and only these plucked hair are selected, that have anagen structure of bulbs (i.e. bigger size, shape and strong pigmentation).
2. Then, epithelial cells from these bulbs are propagated in vitro in culture medium, that is optimized for epithelial cells growth (basically it i s serum-free keratinocyte culture media with antibiotics and growth factors, such as EGF ),and therefore facilitate their proliferation activity.

Plus, extract of autologous mast cells or related to them CD34+ cells, that is obtained via induction of their degranulation is added to cultured medium (or mast/CD 34+ cells are cocultured with epithelial cells and their degranulation is inducted in the same Petri dish). In these conditions, it is possible to cultivate hair follicle bulb deriving cells and to obtain several passages.

3. Further, epithelial cells are detached from culture dish via tripsinization and their suspension (actually it is not a pure epithelial cells suspension, but epithelial cells/autologous CD34+ cells mixture) is injected into skin pores of the bald area. This procedure is caried out with the help of different tipe of niddles or injectors. To better visualized pores on light skin, it is prior marked with yellow colouring agents.

The amount of injected cells according to author directly depends on the differentiation status of epithelial cells. The more differentiated cells are, the less number of them is needed and vice versa.
