FK 143 - nonsteroidal selective 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor.

New nonsteroidal selective 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor.

Mechanism:
FK143 inhibited human and rat 5 alpha-reductases (preferably type 1 isoenzyme) in a noncompetitive fashion (opposed to finasteride), thus blocking the peripheral conversion of testosterone to DHT.
It is a new drug. Human (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and animal models of prostate cells have been only tested.

Specific studies on androgenetic alopecia are not known.
