2007 year-end clinical trial update from Intercytex

Posted on: Dec 30, 2007

Intercytex released results of their current Phase II trials of ICX-TRC procedure designed to regenerate new hair follicles. In general, ICX-TRC procedure include injection of a suspension of autologous dermal papilla cells into the scalp of the patient in hope that injected dermal papillae cells will come in close contact with epithelial cells of pre-existing patient's hair follicles to induce formation of even more hair follicles.

Critical steps of Intercytex ICX-TRC hair regeneration procedure

Now, Intercytex announces the first results from their Phase II trial. In the sub-group of 5 patients, all subjects showed substantial and visible increased hair counts at 6 and/or 12 weeks (13-105%) after injection of dermal papillae cells. Intercytex attributed this increase in hair production to the interaction between the injected cells with pre-existing hair follicle's cells.

New group of 5 patients have now been treated with ICX-TRC. By March 2008, Intercytex expects to release preliminary results from 12 week post-treatment time point on up to 16 patients and preliminary results from 24 week post-treatment time point on up to 10 subjects.
